The European Association of Fertilizer Manufacturers (Fertilizers Europe) has sent, together with other signatory entities representing the energy-intensive European industry, a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, requesting that urgent measures be taken in relation to the high prices of natural gas and electricity in the European Union.

Due to this situation, in recent weeks a large number of European industrial plants have stopped production or reduced it, which increases our dependence on third markets and in turn leads to an increase in global carbon emissions. This drop in production is also beginning to have a severe impact on European value chains, endangering our industry and the availability of essential products.

Faced with this situation, the Commission is urged to carry out immediate and severe actions at a European level, to help limit the price of natural gas and decouple it from the price of electricity.
